Reader Rating: July 12, 2008: It sounds like an unlikely premise for a successful sitcom -- three Catholic priests and their housekeeper living together on a small island off the coast of Ireland. Marked by sharp writing and sharper performances, ''Father Ted'' is one of the funniest comedies of the 1990s. Some of the pop culture references are a bit dated, but at the time ''Father Ted'' showed the rest of the world that Ireland wasn't a quaint cultural backwater.
