Upon successful completion of this course, a student should be able to

A. Identify terms and concepts used in Internet access and research.
B. Connect to the Internet.
C. Navigate the Internet with browsers.
D. Access information through online library catalogs using a variety of search strategies including author, title, keyword, and Library of Congress Subject Headings.
E. Use Internet search engines, meta-search engines, and Internet subject directories.
F. Construct Internet search strategies using Boolean operators, proximity operators, truncation, and phrase searches.
G. Find information on the Invisible Web.
H. Evaluate Internet web sites.
I. Describe appropriate use of social networking sites, wikis, and blogs.
J. Select appropriate subscription online databases.
K. Identify types of information sources from subscription online databases including e-books, periodicals, and primary records.
L. Evaluate information sources from subscription online databases.
M. Describe ethical and legal issues involving the Internet such as copyright, privacy, and plagiarism.
N. Communicate using web-based email.
O. Retrieve and save information from Internet sources.
P. Create citations for Internet sources using MLA style.
