Jill Biden fits right in at RACC
She says community colleges play key role

As a veteran educator and community college professor, Dr. Jill Biden felt right at home Wednesday at Reading Area Community College. Meeting with students and local industry leaders in RACC's Schmidt Training & Technology Center, the wife of Vice President Joe Biden stressed the importance of community colleges and the key role they play in America's future.

"Not only can community colleges change lives, they can change America," said Biden, who along with Undersecretary of Education Martha J. Kanter stopped in Reading on her Community College to Career tour, a part of President Barack Obama's proposed $8 billion initiative of the same name.

"I've seen moms juggling jobs and child care launch themselves new careers," Biden said. "I've seen recent high school graduates take another step on their road to a four-year degree. And I've seen people in their 40s and 50s who have been out of work for so long get that second chance."
