RPL’s main branch is temporarily closing for a long overdue facelift. As a result, beginning Thursday, August 22, the Main Library will be closed for critical renovations for approximately three months.
To meet demand for free library services during the renovation, RPL is establishing a popUP Library at 645 Penn Street, Suite 101. The temporary site will contain highly circulated materials and computers and will become operational on Tuesday, September 3. The hours of operation will remain the same as the Main Library’s, which are the following:
Monday 9:30-7:00
Tuesday 9:30-7:00
Wednesday 9:30-7:00
Thursday 9:30-5:30
Friday 9:30-5:30
Saturday 9:30-3:00
In a further attempt to meet patrons’ need during the renovation, Library Branch hours will be increased beginning September 3 to compensate for the inconvenience to patrons.
Interlibrary Loan staff will be transferred to a temporary location and function as a REQUESTER only of needed materials on behalf of Berks County Public Libraries from August 22 to September 2. ILL staff will resume RESPONDING to requests for available RPL materials on Tuesday, September 3. Please be advised that most of RPL Main’s collection will be inaccessible during the three month closing period. ILL staff can be reached at 610-621-0346 (effective August 22nd) or via email at rplill@reading.lib.pa.us.
Visit RPL’s web site at www.reading.lib.pa.us or our Facebook page for updates on the renovations at the Main Library.
