Happy National Ice Cream Month!

Have some ice cream while reading!

July is National Ice Cream Month so I decided to celebrate by pairing some books with ice cream flavours! I know there’s an intense heatwave going on right now so what’s a better way to chill than to read a book and eat some ice cream? All these ice creams are hand drawn with love!

"Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour" by Morgan Matson gets rocky road ice cream (chocolate ice cream with marshmallows and chopped nuts) because well, it’s about a road trip! I am so clever, I know.

"Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azakban" by J.K. Rowling mentioned strawberry peanut butter ice cream from Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour. The first book also mentioned chocolate and raspberry ice cream with chopped nuts, which I think sounds excellent! Strawberry peanut butter ice cream is even available at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Orlando. It really does taste like strawberry with bursts of peanut butter, amazing!

"Shadow and Bone" by Leigh Bardugo is a Russian inspired work so I thought maybe I would pair it with their version of ice cream called morozhenoe. Apparently, there are no distinct flavours of Russian ice cream though so then I thought, maybe a vodka ice cream? However, I was not exactly sure how to draw that so I decided on another alcoholic inspired ice cream, rum raisin! I love rum raisin ice cream…without the raisins.

"The Cavendish Home for Boys and Girls" by Claire Legrand is an upcoming delightfully creepy children’s story. When I think creepy, I think of Halloween and pumpkins. Plus, it matches the cover so I think it works out nicely!
