World Vegetarian Day seeks to bring awareness to the health benefits of living a vegetarian lifestyle.  Education programs which highlight environmental issues and ecological projects, as well as campaigns for the humane treatment of animals occur around this day.  World Vegetarian Day in an informal holiday, observed on October 1st each year.
