Research has proven that regular reading makes students better readers, writers, speakers, listeners, and thinkers. Regular readers score higher on standardized tests, and they greatly increase their chances for school and job success.
For every ten books you read, you will be awarded $100. You can read as many as 40 books and you'll receive a total of $400. Townsend Press supplies the books and you get to keep them!
The cash scholarships are awarded directly to you by Townsend Press. Here's what you need to do:
- Visit Donald Bertram, the Townsend Press Reading Coordinator, in The Yocum Library on the second floor. He will give you books to read.
- When you are finished reading the books, visit Mr. Bertram and he will talk to you briefly about each book to confirm that you have read it.
- Then he'll give you two more books to read.
